AMD Radeon RX 480 / i7-6700K

Em 1440p, RX 480 pode bater 50-60 fps em praticamente tudo em ultra, apenas sem antialiasing, menos Oclusão ambiente e virou para baixo sombras. É claro que o RX 480 é um cartão high-end significativamente mais capaz que pode jogar títulos AAA em 1080p/1440p com 50-60 frames por segundo. Em termos de memória, o RX 480 8192 MB RAM é mais do que suficiente para jogos modernos e não deve causar qualquer gargalos.

AMD Radeon RX 470 / i7-6700K

Para a maior parte, o RX 470 ainda é capaz de jogar jogos modernos, mas você teria que reduzir as configurações para sustentar os framerates mais elevados. Se manter as configurações de qualidade gráfica mais perto de ultra ou alta é importante, há algumas opções para upgrades. Parece que o RX 470 é um cartão de mid-range mais capaz que pode jogar títulos AAA em 1080p com 60 frames por segundo. A relação preço/desempenho é excelente para RX 470 contra a concorrência em cartões de mid-range orçamento. It's a tough one. The RX 470 is close to the RX 480 performance wise and some games do benefit from high VRAM. For example, I'm playing Forza Motorsport 6: Apex at ultra settings and it really requires 8GB of VRAM for a stutter-free experience on that render setting. I always had problems with Forza Motorsport 6 as it really uses loads of VRAM when playing, my experience has been a lot better since moving to an 8GB graphics card in general.

However, most games will be fine with 4GB VRAM and in those games the RX 480 4GB will be easily outperforming the RX 470 8GB.

The difference in performance between a 470 and a 480 of equal memory can be closed by overclocking the 470 by approximately 10%, which is more than doable on an air-cooled solution.

The biggest impacts RAM has on card performance is for handling high-res textures and AA. More available video RAM means your card can handle higher-memory textures, and use better AA options. For any game you can buy today, a 4GB card is more than enough, but once 1440p and 4k resolutions become more prevalant, you're gonna want those extra 4GB.

For your comparison, I would recommend the 470. The 480 is only a better card if both price and RAM are equal, otherwise the biggest thing the 480 gives you is more overclocking room. Personally, I would only consider a 480 if I had a water-cooling solution to implement on it so I could overclock the piss out of it.

In most cases it would limit the faster card to the capabilities of the lesser card. However, if you used the RX480 / RX580 as the primary and disabled crossfire on titles that don't support it, you would then have that level of performance.

Really though it is best to get a single faster GPU. Sell your RX470 while the value is still higher than normal, and pick up the fastest card you can afford. (Also buying an RX480 or RX580 is practically impossible for reasonable sums right now)
