Our Verdict: Upgrading from TITAN V to RTX 3060 Ti is not recommended as it is less than 30% of improvement in performance. In general, a reasonable upgrade is between 30% and 50% or more to justify the purchase of new hardware. The price/performance ratio is much better for RTX 3060 Ti .

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti

The RTX 3070 might be the mid-range flagship of the latest Ampere set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most entry-level PC gamers. On the other hand, the RTX 3060 Ti is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 399. NVIDIA ’s xx60 cards have always been defined by entry-level prices with performance that knocks on the door of mid-range graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the Ampere graphics card inside the RTX 3060 Ti, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

In our synthetic benchmarks, the RTX 3060 Ti blows past the RTX 2060 SUPER and, amazingly, even the RTX 2070 as well. Unfortunately, gaming performance was not quite as impressive. Even if the RTX 3060 Ti consistently delivers frame rate increases over the RTX 2060 SUPER, the gain is not much to justify an upgrade.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Cyberpunk 2077, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Metro Exodus at 70 fps to 85 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 76 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel's Avengers at 60 fps to 65 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 63 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Resident Evil 2, Far Cry 5, Far Cry New Dawn, Death Stranding, F1 2019 at 63 fps to 70 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 66 fps.

NVIDIA TITAN V

Unfortunately, gaming performance was not quite as impressive. Even if the TITAN V consistently delivers frame rate increases over the TITAN Xp, the gain is not much to justify an upgrade. For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Metro Exodus at 68 fps to 81 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 71 fps.

For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Marvel's Avengers, Metro Exodus, Cyberpunk 2077, Borderlands 3, Hitman 2 at 62 fps to 72 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 65 fps. For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Resident Evil 2, Far Cry 5, Far Cry New Dawn, Death Stranding, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 at 60 fps to 65 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 63 fps.
