Our Verdict: Upgrading from TITAN Xp to RTX 2070 SUPER is not recommended as it is less than 30% of improvement in performance. In general, a reasonable upgrade is between 30% and 50% or more to justify the purchase of new hardware. The price/performance ratio is much better for RTX 2070 SUPER .

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER

The RTX 2080 might be the high-end flagship of the latest Turing set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most mid-range PC gamers. On the other hand, the RTX 2070 SUPER is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 499. NVIDIA ’s xx70 cards have always been defined by mid-range prices with performance that knocks on the door of high-end graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the Turing graphics card inside the RTX 2070 SUPER, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

The RTX 2070 SUPER is much more expensive than the GTX 1070 as it costs a whopping $ 499. Compare this to the GTX 1070, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, which came originally at a price of $ 399, $ 409. Meanwhile, the AMD closest equivalent card is the RX 5700 XT which costs $ 399. In our synthetic benchmarks, the RTX 2070 SUPER blows past the GTX 1070, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti and, amazingly, even the GTX 1080 as well.

Unfortunately, gaming performance was not quite as impressive. Even if the RTX 2070 SUPER consistently delivers frame rate increases over the GTX 1070, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti, the gain is not much to justify an upgrade. Whether it is a justifiable upgrade depends on what graphics card you are upgrading from. Users with a GTX 1070, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti will not see a remarkable increase in frame rates after paying more for this RTX 2070 SUPER. Similarly, those holding onto RX 5700 XT 's RX Vega 56 graphics cards will not have a reason to jump teams yet.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Red Dead Redemption 2, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Metro Exodus, Borderlands 3, Anthem at 60 fps to 90 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 75 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Anthem, Gears of War 5, Need For Speed: Heat, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 4 at 71 fps to 76 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 74 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Apex Legends, Strange Brigade, Fallout 76, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, F1 2018 at 62 fps to 74 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 66 fps.

NVIDIA TITAN Xp

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Borderlands 3, Metro Exodus, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Need For Speed: Heat, Gears of War 5 at 80 fps to 101 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 89 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Metro Exodus, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Gears of War 5, Need For Speed: Heat, GreedFall at 65 fps to 82 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 72 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Strange Brigade, Resident Evil 2, Far Cry New Dawn, Far Cry 5, Call of Duty Modern Warfare at 62 fps to 66 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 64 fps.

For those on 1080p or even 1440p monitors, the TITAN Xp is very expensive and there are better value choices in the short term. In terms of memory, the TITAN Xp 's 12288 MB RAM is more than enough for modern games and should not cause any bottlenecks. 4K gaming is joyous on this TITAN Xp , and with a little tweaking to your AA settings, it'd be hard to imagine a title not capable of 60 fps on average.
