Our Verdict: At 1440p, GTX 970 can hit 50-60 frames per second on pretty much everything at ultra, just without antialiasing, less ambient occlusion and turned down shadows. Whereas RTX 2070 can hit 50-60 frames per second at maximum settings. With some tuning, the RTX 2070 makes the most sense for gamers with 4K monitors and it is better than GTX 970 by a margin. Though serious gamers hardly play at 4k. The RTX 2070 is faster by 99% for 1440p gaming. For 1080p games, upgrading from GTX 970 to RTX 2070 is not worth it if targeting 60 frames per second. The price/performance ratio is much better for RTX 2070 .
