If they are the same price the 1070. If the 1070 is 450 and the 980ti is say 350 get the 980ti. I have a friend that just got a evga gtx 980ti classified for 0 if you can find that take it.

Should i get a gtx 1070 or gtx 980ti? I can get the latter for about 70$ less than 1070. I've seen it being head to head with gtx 1070 ti after OC.

Then go for the 980ti. It is still quite powerful and should handle that resolution pretty well. AFAIK, it should not bottleneck considerably. There will always be a bottleneck but since you have OC'ed it, it should give some good performance.

Yes, the cooler on the 1070 is far ahead of the blower-cooler on the 980ti.Performance aside, if that's your deal breaker then go for it. It will just be a loss for the other guy.
