Our Verdict: Upgrading from GTX 1650 SUPER to GTX 1070 is not recommended as it is less than 30% of improvement in performance. In general, a reasonable upgrade is between 30% and 50% or more to justify the purchase of new hardware. The price/performance ratio is much better for GTX 1650 SUPER .

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070

The GTX 1080 might be the high-end flagship of the latest Pascal set of graphics cards, but their prices keep them out of the reach of most mid-range PC gamers. On the other hand, the GTX 1070 is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 399. The good news is, with the release of the GTX 1070 Ti, the GTX 1070 's price is getting more discount.

NVIDIA ’s xx70 cards have always been defined by mid-range prices with performance that knocks on the door of high-end graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the Pascal graphics card inside the GTX 1070, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend. The GTX 1070 has 8 GB RAM compared to the GTX 970 's 4 GB video memory.

In our synthetic benchmarks, the GTX 1070 blows past the GTX 970 and, amazingly, even the GTX 980 as well. Unfortunately, gaming performance was not quite as impressive. Even if the GTX 1070 consistently delivers frame rate increases over the GTX 970, the gain is not much to justify an upgrade.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Anthem, Need For Speed: Heat, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Just Cause 4, Gears of War 5 at 64 fps to 75 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 71 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play GreedFall, Hitman 2, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, F1 2019, World War Z at 61 fps to 68 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 65 fps.

On the other hand, the GTX 1650 SUPER is closer to being reasonably affordable at a price tag of $ 160. NVIDIA ’s xx50 cards have always been defined by entry-level prices with performance that knocks on the door of mid-range graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the Turing graphics card inside the GTX 1650 SUPER, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

Spec for spec, this GTX 1650 SUPER leapfrogs its direct predecessor, the GTX 1050, by boasting 2 % more fps. The GTX 1650 SUPER has 4 GB RAM compared to the GTX 1050 's 3 GB video memory.

In our synthetic benchmarks, the GTX 1650 SUPER blows past the GTX 1050, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and, amazingly, even the GTX 1060 6GB as well. Fortunately, gaming performance was quite impressive. The GTX 1650 SUPER consistently delivers great frame rate increases over the GTX 1050, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti and it really justifies an upgrade.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Gears of War 5, Monster Hunter: World, Final Fantasy XV, Far Cry New Dawn, GreedFall at 62 fps to 70 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 67 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Resident Evil 2, Forza Horizon 4, Battlefield V, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Strange Brigade at 62 fps to 69 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 65 fps.

It is clear that the GTX 1070 is a significantly more capable high-end card that can play AAA titles at 1080p/1440p with 50-60 frames per second. In terms of memory, the GTX 1070 's 8192 MB RAM is more than enough for modern games and should not cause any bottlenecks. In short the performance is exceptional, there's no question that this is one of the most powerful single GPU out there in 2016 .

At 1440p, GTX 1650 SUPER can hit 50-60 fps on pretty much everything at ultra, just without antialiasing, less ambient occlusion and turned down shadows. It is clear that the GTX 1650 SUPER is a significantly more capable high-end card that can play AAA titles at 1080p/1440p with 50-60 frames per second. The price/performance ratio is excellent for GTX 1650 SUPER against the competition in budget mid-range cards. With current 4096 MB RAM, the GTX 1650 SUPER can have very few memory-related bottlenecks in more modern games.
