Our Verdict: The price of RTX 2080 Ti is ridiculous. With some tuning, the RTX 2080 Ti makes the most sense for gamers with 4K monitors and it is better than RX 5700 by a margin. Though serious gamers hardly play at 4k. For everyone else, especially those on 1080p or even 1440p monitors, the RX 5700 could be the better value choice in the short term. The RTX 2080 Ti is faster by 46% for 1440p gaming. However, RX 5700 is still capable of producing more than 60 frames per second. For 1080p games, upgrading from RX 5700 to RTX 2080 Ti is not worth it if targeting 60 frames per second. In addition, taking into account the huge price difference between the two, the RX 5700 is a winner. The price/performance ratio is much better for RX 5700 .

AMD Radeon RX 5700

The good news is, with the release of the RX 5700 XT, the RX 5700 's price is getting more discount. AMD ’s xx00 cards have always been defined by mid-range prices with performance that knocks on the door of high-end graphics cards – especially when overclocked. After taking the time to fully test the RDNA 1.0 graphics card inside the RX 5700, we can say without a doubt that it continues the trend.

In our synthetic benchmarks, the RX 5700 blows past the RX Vega 56 and, amazingly, even the RX Vega 64 as well. Unfortunately, gaming performance was not quite as impressive. Even if the RX 5700 consistently delivers frame rate increases over the RX Vega 56, the gain is not much to justify an upgrade.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Metro Exodus, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Borderlands 3, Anthem, Need For Speed: Heat at 62 fps to 83 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 71 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Anthem, Final Fantasy XV, Gears of War 5, Need For Speed: Heat, Just Cause 4 at 61 fps to 66 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 64 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play World War Z, F1 2018 at 65 fps to 67 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 66 fps.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti

The RTX 2080 Ti has 11 GB RAM compared to the GTX 1080 's 8 GB video memory. Unfortunately, gaming performance was not quite as impressive. Even if the RTX 2080 Ti consistently delivers frame rate increases over the GTX 1080, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti, the gain is not much to justify an upgrade.

For 1080p Full HD, we were able to play Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption 2, Metro Exodus, Borderlands 3, Far Cry 5 at 82 fps to 113 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 97 fps. For 1440p Quad HD, we were able to play Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption 2, Metro Exodus, Borderlands 3, Hitman 2 at 66 fps to 83 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 74 fps.

For 2160p 4K, we were able to play Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War 5, Need For Speed: Heat, Far Cry 5, Resident Evil 2 at 61 fps to 73 fps and kept frame rates hovering around 67 fps.
