AMD Radeon RX 470 / Core i7-6700K @ 4.00GHz
For the most part, the RX 470 is still capable of playing modern games, but you would have to reduce settings to sustain those higher framerates. If keeping graphics quality settings closer to ultra or high is important, there are a few options for upgrades. It appears that the RX 470 is a more capable mid-range card that can play AAA titles at 1080p with 60 frames per second. The price/performance ratio is excellent for RX 470 against the competition in budget mid-range cards. With current 4096 MB RAM, the RX 470 can have very few memory-related bottlenecks in more modern games.
AMD Radeon RX 480 / Core i7-6700K @ 4.00GHz
At 1440p, RX 480 can hit 50-60 fps on pretty much everything at ultra, just without antialiasing, less ambient occlusion and turned down shadows. It is clear that the RX 480 is a significantly more capable high-end card that can play AAA titles at 1080p/1440p with 50-60 frames per second. In terms of memory, the RX 480 's 8192 MB RAM is more than enough for modern games and should not cause any bottlenecks.

What to Consider Before Buying a Graphics Card
If you have been planning to upgrade your system by purchasing a new graphics card. Then there are some important factors to consider.
Resolution VS Quality: Impact on Game Performance
What affects game performance? Clarity or Details?
Ultra VS High Quality Settings in PC Games
Every player has a different notion about the ideal setting for PC games. But in most cases, opting for a High quality graphics configuration is the way to go.
What are CPU or GPU Bottlenecks?
Are you getting sudden frame drops? you might have a bottleneck.
What is the acceptable FPS speed for me?
For some games, you can still enjoy great garphics at lower frame rates.

However, most games will be fine with 4GB VRAM and in those games the RX 480 4GB will be easily outperforming the RX 470 8GB.
Well, the board partners only design they custom power delivery and up the clockspeeds a little, you wont see massive gains, only slightly better ,a 470 nitro+ will stilll lose to the worst 480 out there
The biggest impacts RAM has on card performance is for handling high-res textures and AA. More available video RAM means your card can handle higher-memory textures, and use better AA options. For any game you can buy today, a 4GB card is more than enough, but once 1440p and 4k resolutions become more prevalant, you're gonna want those extra 4GB.
For your comparison, I would recommend the 470. The 480 is only a better card if both price and RAM are equal, otherwise the biggest thing the 480 gives you is more overclocking room. Personally, I would only consider a 480 if I had a water-cooling solution to implement on it so I could overclock the piss out of it.
Really though it is best to get a single faster GPU. Sell your RX470 while the value is still higher than normal, and pick up the fastest card you can afford. (Also buying an RX480 or RX580 is practically impossible for reasonable sums right now)
That's not entirely true. The 4GB RX 480s have slower-clocked memory than the 8GB RX 480s, and as a result tend to have around 5% lower performance. The 4GB RX 480 should still outperform an RX 470 though, so yes, between those cards, the 480 should be better from a performance standpoint.
There are of course other things to keep in mind though, like whether one has a quieter cooler, though if you're just looking for the best performance for the money, that might be less important.

Or the Rx 480 4GB @ 0
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137032
Using MSI Gaming X prices for all proces and performance so as to stay apples and apples
The 8GB 480 is 5 and the 6GB 1060 was 5 also but is sold out on newegg
Which you choose, depends on what games you play.... but keep in mind the following:
Based upon results of tehpowerups game test suite ....using the GTX 1060 as the baseline
a) The MSI RX 480 8GB is 7% slower, on average, than the 1060 reference @ 1080p ... it overclocks 8.6% beyond that for an overall 1% advantage over the 1060
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/RX_480_Gaming_X/23.html
b) The MSI 1060 6GB is 3% faster, on average, than the 1060 reference @ 1080p ... it overclocks 15.1% beyond that for an overall 19% advantage over the 1060
https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1060_OC/23.html
c) The 1060 3 GB runs about 6% slower, on average, than the 1060 reference @ 1080p ... it overclocks 14.5% beyond that for an overall 8% advantage over the reference 1060
\https://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/MSI/GTX_1060_Gaming_X_3_GB/29.html
So ranking the 3, based upon the overall performance in the entire test suite:
MSI 480 Gaming X 8GB = 101% of the reference 1060 for 5
MSI 1060 Gaming X 3GB = 108% of the reference 1060 for 5
MSI 1060 Gaming X 6GB = 119% of the reference 1060 for ? (whatever it is when back in stock (last saw @ 5)
I have not seen comparative test results for the 4GB 480 on TPU.... but a) early Sapphire cards could be flashed from 4 to 8GN (supposedly reviewer samples only but few escaped in the wild) and b) on the 10690, cutting the RAM in half for the 1060 cost 7% in performance at 1080p. If we assume the same 7% hit on the 480 from 8 to 4GB, that was seen halving the 1060s, that **might** make put the MSI 480 Gaming X 4GB = 94% (0) of the reference 1060 for 5 but that's a logical guess.
As i said above, best to start here and look at what games you play and how each card under consideration does against each other:

The i5-7500 + RX 470 would be the more optimal choice. The quad core would be needed for many new AAA games, a few MMOs, and it would be harder for you to upgrade your CPU down the line than your GPU. If old 2nd gen i5s and 750 ti's are still kicking gaming on 1080p, your i5-7500 and RX 470 will do great.
PC is mainly for 1080p gaming use
what do you guys think i should get?
Ofc u need a bit more than 4gb for mods on fallout or skyrim, but even 4gb wont be a big issue. U not gonna play only these 2 games all the year are u?
I dont think it will matter. If you buy 470 OC and compare it with 480 it wont mean anything because you can OC the 480. However, I found this link where they compare 470 OC vs 480 and seems 480s still beats the 470 OC. Also note OC will need a better cooling otherwise it will end with high temps and low fps.

The link below also compare 470 vs 480 vs 470OC (MSI), and seems the difference between 480 vs 470OC is not that big

Regards,
and i have a radeon r7 260x gpu
i want to upgrade my gpu to rx 470 or rx 480 or GTX 960.
what is the best gpu for my pc.
will it cause a bottleneck
if yes, will the bottleneck problem injure my gpu?
Thanks
If your CPU is overclocked, there will be no major "bottleneck" and "bottlenecks" are not damaging parts. It just means that there is something limiting application performance to some degree.
What is the power supply in your computer ?
Is it worth the price/performance diffrence for a build right now, and which one to go for looking to price/performance. ( Price diffrence here: 21euro)
Are there maybe better cards out there for the same price? (I live in europe)
2. My only hesitation about the Rx 480 is the price point, in England the Rx 480 8gb is £229 while a Rx 470 8gb is 180. Is there a good price point for the 480 over the 470?
Detailed specs on both my cards are here : https://in.pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/7dJkcf,qbL7YJ/
Thanks
For the particular models you selected...it depends on the type of output you need. If you need more DisplayPort and/or HDMI ports, the RX 480 is the better choice (2 of each vs. 1 of each for the RX 470). If you need more DVI outputs, or specifically need DVI-I dual-link outputs, then the RX 470 is the better choice (2 DVI-I dual, vs. 1 DVI-D dual on the RX 480). However, that's probably a more secondary consideration than the actual card performance.
get the GTX 1060 if you can pay for it ...if not RX 480 .. I would never go lower besides , the 4GB RX 480 is 0
My tight budget is around 0
I want to play bf4, cod3, witcher3, and a few other games on a 1080p monitor with 60hz refresh rate
But I don't really know if I should go with an RX 470 4GB or a RX 480 Nitro 4GB.
The RX 480 Nitro is about 217€
The RX 470 is 215€
Yea sure, the RX 480 is usually better than the 740 but I've never heard of those Nitro.
The standard RX 480 costs 250€ and this Nitro 215€ so I suppose it's weaker. Long story short is the 470 or the 480 Nitro stronger?
480 is better. They jack up the memory which is cheaper as a marketing tactic. I mean it does allow for higher resolutions and some other minor benefits but the 480 is the clear winner. My answer is an assumption. I can only assume you are using a 1080p TV or monitor. If you are using a 4K TV the 8GB would be a slightly better choice.
So, i'm buying a gpu but i dunno wich one should i buy, can someone help me please?
So, i'm stuck between rx 470 4gb and rx 480 4gb and i wanna know your opinions about both, and whats the difference between boths?
My preferences is gta on high/very high 1080p full hd, and no, i don't expect to play VR games.
I hope you guys understand what i just writed cause i'm portuguese :P
So, if someone help me, i would be really gratefull!
Can I ask where you are buying them? I'm considering a RX 470 for 0 (U.S.), and can't find any RX 480 for under 0.

Rx 480 :
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202225&ignorebbr=1
Which do you think i should get, i mainly game at 1080p and im not sure which is worth it, do you think the rx 480 is worth the difference or should i just get the rx 470? thx
I will always recommend that you set a hard budget for yourself and then get the best that you can afford. It is true that 1060/480 - 1070 are in the ideal perf/$ range right now, but there is always something slightly better for slightly more and thinking in that fashion is a slippery slope.
If you can afford the 480, go with the 480, you'll be happier in the long run. If you'd rather spend your money elsewhere, go with the 470, it's a pretty good deal.
I have no GPu, i am playing game on the graphics of my i5 4590
i want to play BF4, BF1, witcher, etc etc etc (willing to not do fullscreen if needed)
so should i get a 470 or 480?
480 is expensive as heck, im pushing just to get that 470. so like how long would a 470 last me? as i have said if the 470 or 480 cant do full screen at 1080p, i can always lower the resolution of the window size.
ones you listed, its becoming more common for them to support
DX 12 and Vulcan which leaves the GTX 1060 in the dust.
Benchmarks VS 1060
I would definitely step up to the RX 480
I am planning to build a budget gaming system. I have 2 gpus in mind, both are around 5:

http://www.microcenter.com/product/468281/Radeon_RX_470_ROG_STRIX_Overclocked_4GB_GDDR5_Video_Card
Instinct tells me to get the Rx 480, however the Rx 480 that is on discount is a single fan model, and I have heard some bad things about single fan GPUs before. Which one should I get?
Thanks in advance to anyone who answers.
i don't care for high/ultra settings, if the fps are 60 fps on average, i'm happy.
My built is going to be:
- I3 6100
- 8gb ddr4
- Psu depends on the gpu but at the moment I have an 430W psu in mind
The games I play:
rainbow six siege
mafia 2/3
Cod black ops 3/ghosts
Battlefield 1
Doom
Dishonored 2
The gpu's are:
0 - Sapphire NITRO+ Radeon RX 470 4G D5 - € 226
0 - MSI Radeon RX 470 GAMING X 8G - € 255,95
0 - Sapphire Radeon RX 480 NITRO+ 4G - € 246,95
6 - Gigabyte Radeon RX 480 G1 Gaming 8G - € 287,95
Price in $ - Gpu brand and version - actual pricing in €
What is recommended?

Question is i am in a dialemma in choosing rx 470 and rx 480 as difference btwn rx 480 and rx 470 is 10%
My psu has only 6 pin connector so i can go with any non reference rx 470 or 6 pin powercolour red dragon rx 480
Link;-
https://m.newegg.com/product/index?itemnumber=N82E16814131706
Plz help me in choosing btwn these 2 gpu's!!!
I want to play latest titles @45-50fps @1080p
I am on tight budget
Thankyou
Note:-1. i know about my Bottleneck with these gpu's
2. Plz don't suggest 1060 3gb because it is of 3gb vram & not that future proof in reference with rx 480 or rx 470 vram
3. As rx 480 is off same fps as 1060 with 2-5 fps difference but drivers are good in updates and performance is increasing and RX series are actually good with dx 12 games than nvidia at present with price to performance ratio
4. Just help me to choose between non reference rx 470 and powercolour rx 480 in above link!
I wanted to use them with crossfire (which I've read is do-able) but in the AMD settings program I don't have a crossfire option where there is supposed to be one. All the drivers and program is updated and freshly installed but I still do not see any option to enable crossfire.
The only two issues I could think of is that:
1 - My motherboard doesn't support crossfire (couldn't find an answer on that)
2 - I am using a usb powered bridge adapter with a pci-e connector to my rx470 because I don't have enough room between to the two cards to allow airflow. I am not sure if that is causing an issue and maybe limiting the rx 470 because it is only a pci-e port
PC Specs:
Motherboard: MSI B250 gaming pro carbon
CPU: Intel i7 7700k
GPU: Sapphire Nitro+ rx480 4GB, AMD rx470 4GB
RAM: 16GB DDR4
PSU: Corsair CX500
OS: Windows 10 pro 64 bit
If anyone has done this before or has a work-around I would love to hear it, thanks
