AMD Radeon RX 470 / i7-6700K

For the most part, the RX 470 is still capable of playing modern games, but you would have to reduce settings to sustain those higher framerates. If keeping graphics quality settings closer to ultra or high is important, there are a few options for upgrades. With current 4096 MB RAM, the RX 470 can have very few memory-related bottlenecks in more modern games.

AMD Radeon R9 390 / i7-4790K

At 1440p, R9 390 can hit 50-60 fps on pretty much everything at ultra, just without antialiasing, less ambient occlusion and turned down shadows. It is clear that the R9 390 is a significantly more capable high-end card that can play AAA titles at 1080p/1440p with 50-60 frames per second. It is worth noting that the R9 390 is a very power hungry card and requires a decent power supply unit. In terms of memory, the R9 390 's 8192 MB RAM is more than enough for modern games and should not cause any bottlenecks.

looking to buy a new gpu. where i live, the 480 is around 110 usd more than the 470

The 480 is the best card and the best deal, just avoid Gigabyte this time around as they've been having problems with cooling the 480. I'd go for something from XFX or MSI. Unless you can get the 390 for under 0 from a trusted friend that hasn't beaten it to death for months in a mining rig then there's really no reason to buy a 390.

Hi guys, i'm planning to buy a new graphics card to replace my ASUS DirectCU II TOP R9 280x 3GB but i can't decide for a GPU. I want one of these three GPU:

GTX 970
R9 390
RX 470

These are the components of my PC:

I will go from what I know.

I have the same processor and a GTX 970, and there is no bottlenecking at all, and I can play most games in really high quality, things like far car 4 at maximum settings, this is at 1080p as well.

The 4590 and 970 seems like a really good match-up to me, but you can get a GTX 1060 for an extra £30-40, and that is just a little behind the GTX 980, and you can get 6GB of VRAM.

So I would recommend either a 970, or a 1060. I don't know too much about AMD Cards, but the 390 and 470 are both really good cards. Although I would recommend a 480 over the 470.

Good day,

I saved enough to upgrade my old HD5750 GPU and probably wont be upgrading for another 3-4 years. As a person who has less knowledge on what to buy, i badly need some advise. I had been searching online for a decent GPU and I decided to choose between R9 390 (2nd hand) and a brand new RX 470. These are the two GPU that fits my budget. I am planning to upgrade my system soon but for now I have a Corsair VS450. I tried using online wattage calculator and still has no idea if it can handle either of these GPU's. I want to be able to run games like Farcry Primal, Fallout 4 any other AAA games. Here is my setup, remember I will be upgrading it soon, I have an APU A8-7600 and just 1TB HDD. I hope you guys can help me out.

The 470 would probably work for a while, but I would not put a 390 on it. The VS450 is not very reliable, but it's not complete garbage and does have basic protections.
